There’s a funny old side to the internet, and in particular gamers that reside on it, in that instead of showing our united support for one cause (i.e. Gaming), we always have to splinter ourselves off into separate groups and disassociate ourselves with certain other factions of gamers, based solely on what types of games they play. Possible the biggest tiff of the lot has to be the people who play social games, and the people who don’t.

Now I don’t know why it seems to derive so much hatred (just look at any article on Kotaku that has to do with FarmVille and you’ll get my point), so I decided I’d take a few days over on the other side of the fence, to see what the view was like. And to harvest their crops* for some extra EXP. More on this after the jump.

* denotes that I haven’t actually played FarmVille or any other farm spin-off titles.

For someone who isn’t really big into golf games, I do seem to wind up posting a bit about them, and playing web browser golf. So when I saw that South Park lampooned the Tiger Woods Thanksgiving incident and turned it into a parody mini-game in EA Sports’ upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, I figured I’d juat have to share it, right?

However, EA are none too happy about the portrayal of their upcoming game, and are looking at ways to threaten South Park with legal action over slandering their upcoming game. Personally though, if Nintendo didn’t sue over the Wii, and Activision didn’t sue over Guitar Hero’s portrayal on the show, I don’t see how EA could possibly have a case here. Besides, it’s parody, and all’s fair in taking the mickey, right? I’m sure at least someone working within EA’s cracked a Tiger Woods joke about the whole thing at least once, and nothing probably got said to him/her. It happened, people, move on. Like anyone’s going to actually start taking South Park seriously now..

Remember that time when David Cage (from Quantic Dream) said that Heavy Rain was so immersive, you’d nearly think it’s a movie? Turns out he was right. Hats off to Brad Shoemaker from Giant Bomb for the Twitter tip-off, but here’s a clip showing Sam Douglas, the voice and likeness of private eye Scott Shelby, in what probably got him the Heavy Rain gig in the first place: his small role as a homicide detective in the 2005 movie Derailed, that also starred Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston. For those that have played it (even the demo), you can see a lot of similarities in both characters, their dress code, dialog,

And it’s with a vengeance! Yes, the Commodore is making a long-overdue comeback, and to be honest, I kinda like it.

New Commodore USA CEO Barry Altman has licensed the Commodore name and will be applying it to this: A computer within a keyboard. Sure it’s not the first time that they’ve done something like that, all the original Commodores were built like that also.

Ever since I got my PS3, I’ve noticed that my ‘Having Games/Completed Games’ ratio isn’t that hot looking. I’ve been buying games, loaning them out to friends, re-selling them back to the store, but rarely ever seeing their respective endings. It was only the other night when I was updating my Playfire account that I realised this trend of sorts.

You see, Playfire allows you to add games you’ve played to your profile. It will then ask you whether you currently own the game, whether or not you’ve completed the game, if you’re in the process of playing it, and whether or not it’s one of your Favourites. I’ve added a load of games to my list, but for very few was I able to check that box that said ‘Completed’. Assassin’s Creed 1, Brutal Legend, InFamous and Far Cry 2, to name but a few.

Since its launch in December of last year in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII has drawn a lot of “mixed” press. Japanese magazine Famitsu gave it 39/40, RPGFan gave it 85%, Action Button gave it 2/4 and a lot of people on blogs and messageboards across the internet are giving it a lot of flak. Me? I’m still going to buy it as soon as it hits shelves. Why? I’ll give you 3 good reasons.

Heavy Rain comes to us from Quantic Dream, the same studio that brought us Indigo Prophecy (reviewed here just before Christmas), and it is available on PS3 now. I got my copy on launch day, but have yet to claim my bonus content. I played the demo a month ago and already had my thoughts on it, time to see how the real McCoy stacks up.

Just a warning: As the game is so plot-centric, this review will inevitably contain spoilers.
